I’ve heard it from at least 4 people now in the past year. “Dubai is amazing, it’s so incredible! It’s nothing like you see on TV and the news!”. Ya. I bet it’s not.
Do you really think a bunch of billionaires are going to let foreigners see the same torture and crimes against humanity that they routinely and continually commit? Of course not.
Of these 4 people, 3 were women. And, I asked them all the same question : “Aren’t you worried about your lack of rights as a woman”. Not one of them even blinked before saying “No, I feel incredibly safe”. Ya, I bet you do. They’re not going to pull this shit on Western Women, because it’d be an international incident.
Yes, there’s ample job opportunities there. Why? Because Western people have money. And, your money is going either directly or indirectly to slavery and crimes against humanity. How do you think all this shit gets built? With well paid labour and sites with the utmost safety regulations? Fuck no. We won’t even discuss the World Cup in Qatar where hundreds of forced labourers died from unsafe workplaces, lack of water, and pure exhaustion.
No no. We don’t like talking about _THAT_.

This image is from one of the many labor camps in the city of Dubai, just far enough away from the glitz and glamour of the city so you don’t see where construction workers are crammed into tiny rooms, often with up to ten men living in each room in squalar conditions. Most construction workers and laborers survive on less than $500 a month in income, which is setup as a daily wage. Their passports are taken ransom from them so they can’t escape.
Further, they’re effectively bonded laborers. What does this mean, you ask? They have “agents” back home, either in India, Pakistan, Nepal, or Bangladesh, which charge them roughly $3,000 to $4,000 for placement services to get them these jobs here in the Middle East. They’re promised well paying jobs, where they can send tons of money back home to their families, money they could only dream of making in their native communities.
Sound familiar? It does to me. Remember the movie “12 Years A Slave”? It’s the story of a freed black man in the north of the USA who was a talented violin player. He’s approached by 2 white men who offer him a very well paying gig travelling with them entertaining the masses – something near anyone would take. To celebrate, they get him shitfaced drunk, and while he’s intoxicated, sell him off to a slave trader who beats him within an inch of his life. Next thing you know, he’s working on a plantation in chains.
Well, that’s more or less what’s happening here. These modern say slaves are forced to pay back this “loan” they take from these “agents”. But, it’s near impossible to pay it off, and doesn’t allow them any of the promises savings. Further, they can’t leave until the debt is settled – creating a situation where they are now working for nothing – and the “agents” make all the money selling slave labour to the Dubai billionaires.
Pretty cool, eh? Fast cars, exotic adventures, the best food and drink money can buy, lavish resorts, and all the most wonderful things in life at your fingertips. While you’re there, maybe you check out the Riad Blood Money Comedy Festival. While we’re at it, fuck Bill Burr and his two faced bullshit rants. I used to respect you, but now you’re nothing more than a fucking farce.

Oh wait, I forgot to talk about all those Instagram models!
Those covergirl looking women, just living a lavish life, jetsetting around the world. Do these women work? How the hell can they afford this? Their entire Instagram profile is just them doing exotic things, in exotic places, looking as hot and sexy as ever. I should definitely like this photo!
So, how DO they afford it? It’s all pretty simple. Super rich middle east men pay them a couple thousand dollars. They’re more or less escorts. They send them on some fancy trip to hook them in. Then, they’re flown to Dubai, or Saudi Arabia, or wherever. Then, once they’re in a country with no women’s rights, they’re forced into being sex slaves. And ya, they’re paid fairly well, but it’s still (largely) being done against their will. Why? Because if they say no, who’s there to protect them? It’s hard enough having law enforcement believe a rape victim in North America – what about in a country where women have no rights at all? Good fucking luck.
This is the place that’s so amazing? Really? While you enjoy all the glitz and glam, driving your $500,000 sports car through the desert, have you ever stopped for a fucking second and wondered how all this got there? Have you ever stopped to wonder how it all got built? How it’s maintained? Have you ever stepped out of your cushy resort into the slums only a couple kilometers away, where all those slaves are kept? No. You haven’t. Or, if you have, you’re a fucking monster for continuing to support this bullshit.
Seems people just love to reap the bounty that slavery brings, but they just don’t like to think about the actual slavery aspect of it all.
Fucking hypocrite.
